MIGA Elective Grants Program

Supporting medical students in developing communities

MIGA’s Elective Grants Program provides financial assistance to medical students undertaking their electives in developing communities.

Since 2004, we have supported over 100 medical students from across Australia who have participated in electives all around the world.

The Grants

MIGA offers ten Grants of $3,500, each consisting of:

For medical students

$2,000 to assist in funding your personal elective costs, including travel, accommodation and vaccinations

For developing communities

$1,500 to assist in the purchase of medical or other aid for the community visited

For Indigenous students

Each year, one of the ten Grants is reserved specifically for awarding to an Indigenous medical student

    • Are enrolled in an accredited course of medical study in Australia for the purpose of obtaining registration as a medical practitioner
    • Are willing and able to undertake an elective program in a developing community between Monday 1 March 2023 and Thursday 29 February 2024.
