SA Rural Health Enhancement Package

Arrangements with Country Health SA for payment of medical indemnity premiums

MIGA and Country Health SA, with the support of the Rural Doctors Association of South Australia, have put in place an arrangement for the payment of medical indemnity premiums for rural doctors in South Australia.

Eligible doctors can pay their renewal tax invoice to MIGA net of their Rural Health Enhancement Package Grants and MIGA then recoups the Grant on their behalf.  Doctors no longer have to do this via the country hospital where they usually practice.

This process makes it easier for rural doctors, as they no longer have to handle the administration associated with re-claiming their subsidy and they are able to pay the net amount only to MIGA and not be out of pocket whilst waiting for their reimbursement.

If you are a resident rural doctor in South Australia and are eligible for a Grant under the SA Rural Health Enhancement Package, all you need to do to activate this option is to complete an Eligibility Form at the time you join MIGA, and then return it to us.

Existing members who applied for, and received, a RHEP Grant in 2009 will not be required to complete another Eligibility Form.  The Form you completed remains valid for future years.

Existing members who did not apply for a RHEP Grant via MIGA last year were sent a letter and Eligibility Form for completion if they wish to apply for a Grant in 2010 and future years.

On receipt of your completed Eligibility Form, we will validate your entitlement to a Grant with Country Health SA and then issue your invoice noting the net amount payable.
